Job Summary
The Crew Lead is responsible for supervising and managing a crew of workers to ensure the successful completion of commercial construction projects. This role involves overseeing day-to-day tasks on the job site, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and according to quality and project specifications. The Crew Lead works closely with the Business Manager to coordinate resources, materials, and workforce to meet project goals.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- On-Site Leadership and Supervision
- Lead a crew of workers, ensuring that tasks are assigned and completed efficiently.
- Serve as the primary point of contact on-site, directing the activities of crew members to achieve project goals.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to crew members, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Ensure crew members are working safely, following safety protocols and industry regulations.
- Task and Project Management
- Review project plans and specifications to ensure understanding of work requirements.
- Allocate daily tasks to crew members based on skills, project needs, and timelines.
- Monitor the progress of the crew’s work to ensure it is completed according to project deadlines and quality standards.
- Communicate any delays or issues to the Business Manager promptly, proposing solutions when necessary.
- Quality Control
- Ensure all work performed by the crew meets company and client standards for quality.
- Conduct regular inspections of completed work to ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
- Identify and correct any workmanship issues or areas that need improvement.
- Safety Oversight
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety briefings and ensure all crew members are following proper safety practices on the job site.
- Address any safety concerns or hazards immediately and report incidents to the Business Manager.
- Resource and Equipment Management
- Ensure that all crew members have the necessary tools, equipment, and materials to complete their tasks.
- Track and report material usage, ensuring that job sites are stocked with required supplies.
- Properly maintain and store equipment, ensuring that all tools are in good working condition.
- Communication and Reporting
- Serve as the liaison between the crew and the Business Manager, providing regular updates on progress and any challenges.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, including time sheets, work completed, and material usage.
- Provide feedback to the Business Manager on crew performance and any training needs.
- Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution
- Address any crew issues or disputes that arise on the job site, working to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Troubleshoot problems on-site, making decisions to keep the project moving forward while ensuring quality and safety.
- Training and Development
- Mentor and train crew members, helping them develop their skills and improve their performance.
- Ensure new workers are properly oriented to safety protocols and job requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 1 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and safety protocols.
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage construction projects from start to finish.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and plans.
- Valid driver’s license and any necessary certifications (e.g., OSHA).
